4.5 Posting your Article to your Website

Now that all of our images have been loaded to the server, we are ready to post our Welcome article on our website.



Log into the Administrator section of your website and go to the Content > Article Manager page.  We are now finally ready to copy our Front Page Welcome article into Joomla. Click on CONTENT > ARTICLE MANAGER.

Click on the Green NEW button. This will take you to the Article (New) page.

For the Title, type in Welcome to our Website!

For the Section, put it in NEWS and for the Category use Front Page. For Published and Front Page, select YES.

Then in the Document Window which is just below the Text Editor, which hopefully is a better Editor than the default Joomla Editor, (for example by installing the Joomla CK editor) select and copy the Web version of your Welcome article, then right click and paste it. Make sure you click on the PASTE FROM WORD icon (shown inside the RED circle above).

If you did it right, the Editor screen should pop up:

Place your mouse cursor in this screen and then click on CONTROL and the V buttons at the same time.

Then click on OK. This will hopefully strip the text of all the mountains of bad code that Microsoft Word places in their Word documents. If the text editor fails to strip this code, your web page may not open in Internet Explorer. Below is the text now in the Document Window.

After the text is in, but before adding images, it is a good idea to click APPLY. This is because only a limited about of information can be transmitted to the server with any given request.

Now that you have posted your article to your website, the next step will be to add back in all of the images which are now in the images/stories/welcome folder. This is the topic of the next article.
